Surrounded and sheltered by over twenty islands and with a mild climate supported by the Gulf Stream, Schull is undoubtedly one of the best sailing areas in Ireland.
Our dinghy sailing courses run weekly right through the summer and suit all ages and abilities from complete beginner to those looking to build up their skills on the water. We usually say minimum age of eight years, however we have had some very capable and enthusiastic “almost eights” in the past….
The courses are based on the Irish Sailing Association (ISA) 5 Level Scheme and are taught by experienced and qualified instructors in a safe and fun environment, with our emphasis being on building up confidence and skills on the water. They run for five full days, Monday to Friday, however we can also be pretty flexible if your time in Schull is limited and it’s difficult to commit to a full course ( although we would usually recommend a minimum of two days).

Well done to all teams who took part in the Team Racing Nationals at the weekend.
After a delayed start due to high winds, Sunday was a perfect day, wind easterly 10 –15 knots and not a cloud in the sky. Two round robins were sailed, consisting of 44 races, with all teams racing each other twice.
On equal points, the top two teams at the end were Schull Sharks and PBC 1 and it was decided to run a final best of three to decide the National Champions. PBC 1 won 2-1 in the final.
It is hoped that as the new Irish Schools Team Racing Champions they will represent Irish Schools at the British Schools Finals in July.
